Personal Statement
Hello!
My name is Jake Kallimanis and I am Junior Goalkeeper at Alta Loma High School (D1 ranked #15 as of Oct.17) with a 4.7 GPA. I am coached by Kristin Rodriguez at ALHS, and have been coached by Alex Rodriguez at Foothill Club Water Polo, and Kevin Nesbit and Gavin Nolan at Rancho Tsunami Water Polo Club. Playing water polo at the collegiate level has become a goal of mine and I plan on doing whatever I can to achieve this to pursue my academic and athletic career at a high level.
This past high school season my team, my coaches, and I made school history! We won the first CIF title for our boys water polo program, winning the 2021 CIF-SS Division 3 title! We also made it to the semi finals of the Division 2 CIF Regional Tournament. Another accomplishment was winning league undefeated. Awards and titles I received in this past season were: CIF FIRST TEAM, ALL LEAGUE FIRST TEAM, ALL ACADEMIC LEAGUE FIRST TEAM, and COACHES AWARD.
One of my best traits is that I am one of the most coach-able athletes you will meet. Everything my coaches tell me to do I make sure to try and execute it to the best of my ability. I am always asking questions and trying to better myself. In games I am very vocal. On defense I communicate where the ball is, where we are down, and what my defenders can do to help. On offense I communicate the shot clock, where we are up just incase my team mates can't see, and a lot of the times you will hear me screaming to my teammates to watch behind as a defender tries to come and steal the ball. It's also in my nature to be one of the most competitive and determined players in the pool during games. I hype up my team mates and I'm very engaged, but most importantly I make sure to give it all my all whenever I can.
I look forward to this new step in my life and the recruiting process as a whole. I want a team and coach that feels like family. Thank you. -Jake
