Sports is the reason I have gained a 4.1 GPA. It has to do with Adam's-Apple. What is that you may ask? It's the book I am writing on the distracted teenage mind and my personal story. It's a self-help story, about how I have been able to balance sports and academics. I use Adam's Apple methodology to succeed in all parts of my life. Sports is one of the main drivers of my success.
So who am I? I attend Gilroy High School, in Santa Clara County, I have a 4.13 GPA and am a 17 year old Jr. in high school. I play three sports, (Water Polo, Basketball, and Swim). I am in the Bio-Medical Science Program. One of only 2 programs offered in Santa Clara County high schools that focuses primarily on science, technology and biomedical research.
My peers and family friends often ask the question…”Adam, how do you do it?”…You have 100% commitment to sports, your GPA, AP classes, and community leadership.
The title of the book I am writing is “Adam’s Apple”. The chapters revolve around my personal story and the successful methodologies I use to focus and balance life. All with the aid of time management, exercise and positive energy. The books audience is written for really any age group, but mainly focusing on the naturally distracted teenager. In my book, I explain how to overcome and succeed through all barriers, using my methodology. The A.P.P.L.E. methodology. The A.P.P.L.E. methodology revolves around, Adam's Academic, Performance - Principles, by Logic and Energy.
What I love most about water polo, (my favorite sport), is that as one glides through the water and in a second, you can be disturbed by the force of the opponent’s movement. The most imperative thing is to not get distracted. Utilizing the A.P.P.L.E methodology, I keep my eye on the ball and avoid the naturally distracted mind! If you were to ask any of my coaches, they would agree that I am a dedicated and laser focused individual with a positive attitude.
I also enjoy giving back to the community by coaching basketball, soccer and baseball (my second love), to youth. One part of the youth mentoring program I have volunteered with is with disabled children. The Soccer "Goal's Foundation" based in Santa Rosa, CA., works with mentally and physically disabled children. The pure joy I feel when a child with disabilities, accomplishes something they never thought they could.
Which brings me to today. I am accomplishing something I thought I could never attain. To be an author, and a scholar athlete who gives back where I can.
To all the college coaches, I am anxiously awaiting our conversation. I am coachable and leadership comes natural to me. My history of captaining all the three sports of which I play, is a testament to my ability to lead teams to success.
I respectfully ask to be part of your journey.
Sincerely,
Adam A.B. Thompson
