Joe Albany, Recruiting Specialist
I grew up playing multiple sports. I went from football to basketball and wrestling to track and baseball. I even threw lacrosse in there, too. Sports was my love and truly kept me grounded. Football, however, was my passion. I always dreamed of playing professional football. Through a lot of personal adversity, I continued to play football into high school and only played the other sports recreationally. I was a three-year starter at a really competitive high school in the Philadelphia suburbs that earned one Catholic league championship and two southern division championships. I was a two-way starter: WR/DB and returned punts and kick-offs. Anything around the ball! I really believed I was going to play at the highest level in college and earn a full scholarship to help pay for it. This was going to be my only way of paying for college because my family struggled financially.
Unfortunately, due to my ignorance with recruiting and my lack of focus in the classroom, my recruiting process did not work out the way I would have liked it. I ended up going to a college just because I wanted to continue to play, and that school was not a good fit for me. I played for one year, and my football career was over.
Because sports were a huge part of my life for so long, I started to coach at the high school level on and off for 16 years, coaching defensive backs and wide receivers until two and a half years ago when I had the opportunity to join NCSA as a recruiting specialist!
My favorite part of my career is I am given the opportunity to positively impact the lives of student-athletes and help them achieve their goals! Over the past two and a half years, our team has helped thousands of student-athletes and families find their best-fit schools while earning their education as well as earning an average financial package of more than $16,000 per year! When I am not helping student-athletes and families with the future, I am spending time with my beautiful wife, Lisa, and my five awesome kids!
