I was a multi-sport athlete at Colonial High School in Orlando, Florida. I played football, basketball, and track and field but excelled in football. After graduating in 1984, I accepted a full ride to play at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. I was a running back in high school but was switched to safety in college, and I loved it. I led the team in interceptions my first year and made the All-SEC Freshman Team. I was raised by a single mother, and the cost of my education 30 years ago was around $200,000. To not have to pay that amount of money was truly life-changing for my family.
While there, I became best friends with Chris Krause, the founder of NCSA. Chris and I went into this industry right out of college in 1989. Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to help over 10,000 players and have had players go on to play at each division level of college football.
The most rewarding part about working for NCSA is educating and guiding student-athletes with truly unlimited potential. I take great pride in knowing the athletes I work with will go on to become pillars of society. What I do has more to do with building futures than the game itself. The fact that I can guide and educate families, while saving them tens, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars, gives me great satisfaction. I cannot think of a more rewarding thing to do in life.
