The most rewarding part of working at NCSA is knowing my company is truly making a difference in the lives of student-athletes and their families. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, where I was fortunate enough to play baseball with MLB names like Bryce Harper, Kris Bryant and Joey Gallo. I attended Bishop Gorman High School and was privileged to win state championships all four years. After high school, I received a Division I athletic scholar to play at the University of Illinois – Chicago. After four years of college baseball, I did do what I love to do and earned a degree with it.
The biggest thing for me that I want to encourage all student-athletes is it doesn’t matter how talented, tall, short or gifted you are. It’s all about who wants it more. Who’s going to be the one who is willing to make sacrifices and go that extra mile? I’ve seen many athletes at NCSA who weren’t as gifted as other athletes, but with a great work ethic and hard work it paid off for them in the long run. I encourage all my student-athletes to start setting personal goals. Where do you want to be in a week, month or year from now? If you stay true to yourself and commit to your goals, there will be a great chance you will succeed. Life isn’t just about athletics. Academics must come first, and to get on the field you must perform in the classroom. My life slogan every day is “just win the day.” Let’s win the day together!
