NCSA caught up with rising baseball star Mike Dichazi about his high school career and the opportunity to compete at the next level.
NCSA: What motivates you before a big game?
Dichazi: I listen to a baseball warm-up CD to get me fired up and I drink a Mountain Dew.
NCSA: What are you looking forward to if and when you get the opportunity to play at the collegiate level?
Dichazi: I hope my skills prove to coaches that I am capable of playing at another level and hopefully playing early.
NCSA: Why did you get involved in baseball?
Dichazi: I just enjoyed hitting a baseball and expelling some anger. Baseball is very fun, it’s our nations pastime, and my dad encouraged me to play because he did when we was young.
NCSA: Tell us about your interactions with college coaches so far.
Dichazi: I’m starting to get a good amount of contacts from coaches. I am a little surprised about the letters because they are from several different states. I just think it’s funny that coaches in Indiana are interested in me but I’m glad because schools out of the area notice me also.
NCSA: How does your team look for this season?
Dichazi: I think we will be really good in baseball this year. The only challenges we will have is filling a couple spots but we should be alright. I am excelling with getting better grades this year and I’m working out to get stronger for baseball. I used to play basketball so I couldn't really workout but I made the right decision to not play this year.
NCSA: What are your goals athletically, academically and in your community for the rest of the school year?
Dichazi: To win the conference again and hopefully a state championship. I want to get into a good college for academics. I am hoping to get all A's at least once this year.
NCSA: Tell us about what you've learned since being with NCSA.
Dichazi: I have definitely learned how to talk to coaches and how to get in touch with them. I learned what all the coaches want so you can be able to play at the next level. I appreciate NCSA.
