NCSA caught up with rising baseball star Cory Hearne about his high school career and the opportunity to compete at the next level.
NCSA: What are you looking forward to if and when you get the opportunity to play at the collegiate level?
Hearne: Playing with other college players and traveling to games. Also, getting to play baseball and earn a degree is the best of both worlds.
NCSA: Why did you get involved in baseball?
Hearne: I played soccer, basketball, baseball, and flag football. It was fun being around your friends and competing against them.
NCSA: Tell us about your interactions with college coaches so far.
Hearne: A few letters. I’ve heard from UCLA, Mt. Olive College, and Sonoma State. I have also received a ton of invitations to camps.
NCSA: How does your team look for this season?
Hearne: Our team is doing ok. The chemistry on the team wasn't that great this past year. I think it will be better next year. I did get 1st Team All-League. I am excelling and excited about being a senior.
NCSA: What are your goals athletically, academically and in your community for the rest of the school year?
Hearne: Goals to excel athletically....continue playing outfield and pitching. Keeping my shoulder strong and doing well in my classes.
NCSA: Tell us about what you've learned since being with NCSA.
Hearne: You have to do your homework on the school that you want to go to and put some thought into it.
