Occidental College > NCSA Ranks Occidental in Top Ten Percent

Occidental ranks among the top 10 percent of colleges and universities nationwide for its combination of athletic and academic prowess, according to the National Collegiate Scouting Association’s 2008 Collegiate Power Rankings List.
The NCSA, an organization that seeks to connect high school student-athletes with colleges that best meet their individual needs, rates NCAA-member colleges and universities based on an average of their U.S. Sports Academy Directors’ Cup ranking, U.S. News & World Report ranking, and student-athlete graduation rate.
Occidental is ranked 44th among NCAA Division III colleges and is 77th among all schools of all divisions, ahead of Division I schools including UCLA, USC, Berkeley, the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and Purdue.
“For a school to be at the top of a list of more than 1,000 NCAA schools with athletic programs is remarkable,” said NCSA President Chris Krause. “Occidental has made it to the top 10 percent overall because of its commitment to academic and athletics, as well as its commitment to graduating its student-athletes. To be listed as one of the top schools shows dedication and commitment to running a first-class program.”
In addition to the collegiate power rankings, NCSA publishes recruiting guidelines and provides education to the nation’s top clubs, camps, and combines for high school athletic directors, coaches and families of student-athletes who are interested in competing at the collegiate level.
