NCSA caught up with basketball standout Cory Hrynyk about his high school career and the opportunity to compete at the college level.
NCSA: What motivates you before a big game? What’s your pre-game ritual(s)?
Hrynyk: Before a game I like to watch some of the Rocky movies, then on the way to the game listen to some music and then before the game get pumped up as a team.
NCSA: What are you looking forward to if and when you get the opportunity to play on a collegiate level?
Hrynyk: If I have the privilege of playing college basketball I would enjoy seeing a new city, living away from home for a little bit and getting to play some really great basketball.
NCSA: Why did you get involved in the sports you played in?
Hrynyk: The reason I got into basketball is because it has been a natural love for the game, my dad played and I just picked up on it at a very young age.
NCSA: Tell us about your interactions with college coaches so far.
Hrynyk: So far the college recruiting has been a fun but very stressful time. There are so many colleges but only one is the perfect fit for both the student athlete and the school.
NCSA: How are your team(s) doing so far? (Club teams, high school teams)? Any challenges this season? How are you excelling personally, how does that compare to previous years?
Hrynyk: My school team has not started yet, but we look great and hope to have a very strong season. My personal workouts have never been tougher, I know I need to work harder then ever not only to get better but to keep up.
NCSA: Tell us about what you’ve learned since being with NCSA.
Hrynyk: I have learned how to play the recruiting game much better since joining NCSA. Before I would have no clue what to say or what to expect now I am fully prepared and more exposed in my eyes.
