NCSA caught up with basketball standout Felix Friedt about his high school career and the opportunity to compete at the college level.
NCSA: What motivates you before a big game? What’s your pre-game ritual(s)?
Friedt: I listen to a special song and I pray before every game.
NCSA: What are you looking forward to if and when you get the opportunity to play on a collegiate level?
Friedt: I'm looking forward to getting a good education and raising my game to the next level.
NCSA: Why did you get involved in the sports you played in?
Friedt: I got involved in basketball because it's a great team sport, it's fast and exciting.
NCSA: Tell us about your interactions with college coaches so far.
Friedt: I interacted with a few college coaches mostly from the west coast. Some of the contacts came up surprisingly and were very friendly but some were just disappointing because of missing responses. On a funny note, I received a letter from UW recruiting me for their rowing program!
NCSA: How are your team(s) doing so far? Any challenges this season? How are you excelling personally, how does that compare to previous years?
Friedt: My team this year is not doing good at all. We have won one game so far so we have to fight to keep the league! Personally I stepped up in my team becoming more of a leader and important player then the previous years. My goals for this year are to find the right college, get a high school diploma and to improve myself so I can help out my team not to move down.
NCSA: Tell us about what you’ve learned since being with NCSA.
Friedt: I have learned how to correspond with the coaches that contact me and I've seen how good my chances really are to play at a great college level.
