NCSA recently caught up with rising football star Hunter Adams to discuss his recruiting process.
NCSA: How do you show a college coach that you are really interested in their program?
Adams: To show college coaches that I'm sincerely interested in their program I correspond with them as much as possible through phone calls, emails and visiting that particular school. I try to develop a personal relationship with them no matter what school it is.
NCSA: What are you doing to take charge of your recruiting process?
Adams: I do everything thing on my end including training and bettering myself each day. I also make as many phone calls as possible. The rest will take care of itself.
NCSA: Have you had coaches evaluate you in person yet? Tell us about how that feels.
Adams: It's both a good feeling as well as nerve racking. You want to do everything possible to make a good impression and not mess up.
NCSA: How do you handle nerves when communicating with college coaches?
Adams: I try as much as possible to be myself with them. Nerves sometimes can get the best of you though, leaving you tongue tied searching for words. NCSA's handbook is a great tool for helping me communicate better.
NCSA: How do you deal with disappointment in the recruiting process? Can you give an example?
Adams: This can be a brutal process, but understand that it is not the end of the world and you just have to move on.
NCSA: What makes you a unique athlete that stands out from a crowd?
Adams: I believe my ability to make big plays at several positions helps me more than anything and the hard work and dedication I put fourth to better myself.
NCSA: What are your goals for this club/high school season? How is the season going?
Adams: My goals are based from a team standpoint. I want to do everything I can to help our team win as many games as possible. We will take it one game at a time and I hope we can make it deep into the playoffs.
NCSA: Who is your favorite college athlete?
Adams: Dickey Lyons Jr. from Kentucky. Being a big UK fan I like how he has overcame so much and his size really inspires me.
