At the end of February I was fortunate enough to attend my first Junior Day as a football prospect for the Ole Miss Rebels. The campus which is located in Oxford Mississippi was extremely impressive. I was pleasantly surprised at the new indoor practice facility. The building which is located in the southwest end zone housed the weight room, the locker room, physical therapy center, equipment room, team recreation area and the coach's offices. The weight room was complete with Gatorade fountain and tons of new weights. The building is connected to the stadium via underground tunnel. After touring the facilities we met with our position coaches and discussed the basics of the offense that the Ole Miss runs. We were then taken to the locker room and shown some of the pre-game rituals the team goes through, then coach Orgeron led us on to the field where he told us how excited he was about his future at Ole Miss Football and how he was looking forward to the new recruiting season. The Rebels have not missed the boat on academics either. Besides the fact that the coaches require you to sit in the first three rows of all your classes, I was assured that any time a player needed assistance with academic studies there would be help provided. The visit was a real eye opening experience for me as a student because I was able to see how much work would go into being a successful college athlete. I am looking forward to my next visit in the near future.
