NCSA caught up with football standout Mark Alagna about his high school career and the opportunity to compete at the college level.
NCSA: What motivates you before a big game? What's your pre-game ritual(s)?
Alagna: Knowing that my teammates rely on me, and representing my teammates, coaches and school the best that I can. I enjoy listening to music to help me focus and relax. I pray to God to keep me strong, safe, and free from injury.
NCSA: What are you looking forward to if and when you get the opportunity to play on a collegiate level?
Alagna: I am looking forward to receiving the best education I possibly can, and of course learning more about football. Also, I want to show that I am proud to be part of the team that I join.
NCSA: Why did you get involved in the sports you played in?
Alagna: I started playing football my sophomore year, because I didn't want to get involved with the "wrong" crowd.
NCSA: Tell us about your interactions with college coaches so far.
Alagna: I have talked to a number of Division I coaches due to camps, combines, E-mails, etc. The most commonly asked question I have received is "How are your grades?"
NCSA: How are your team(s) doing so far? (Club teams, high school teams)? Any challenges this season?
Alagna: Right now we have been weightlifting and conditioning before summer workout. We have had 65 sessions, and I am proud to have attended all of them.
NCSA: What are your goals - athletically, academically and in your community - for the rest of the school year?
Alagna: I want to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be an all-state football player.
NCSA: Tell us about what you've learned since being with NCSA.
Alagna: I have learned that the most important part of recruiting is the communication with the coaches, and to always respond right away.
