I have been so busy with practice lately. We have it everyday, and then passing league and what not. It has been hard to keep up with the recruiting process. The last time I spoke with a school was in late May. I’m mostly focusing on my senior year. I’m expecting a great year to excel further in football. School has recently ended and the pressure of grades has dropped, but the pressure of being the best Linebacker in league has risen. We recently got a new transfer from our sister school and he’s a great player. He will be playing SS, right next to me at MLB. We are definitely the best two backers in the league.
I talked to an ex-Agoura Linebacker who was just drafted by the Bears today, Joey Laroque. Joey is a great guy, and even a better teacher. He sees the fire and passion within my heart for this sport. He explained that I had to continue to be the hardest worker on the team, never take a break, and go the extra mile. After practice I run sprints to help both my endurance and speed. Joey taught me to take that extra step.
As the season approaches more rapidly, I realize that I might have to play some JC for a year. My heart is set with playing Div. 1. I want to achieve my goal, and surpass it. I want to prove everybody wrong who has told me I can’t succeed. I know I can, and with an extra year to get bigger, faster, and stronger I will play at the Div. 1 level.
If I had to give a new recruit advice on high school football and the recruiting process, it would be “Don’t Blink” It goes by faster than you would ever imagine, and these are some of the best years of my life. I love the opportunity and I am blessed to have the potential to play college football. I will never ever give up on myself, or my team. “Be at the top of your world!”
