NCSA caught up with football standout Brock Sanders about his high school career and the opportunity to compete at the college level.
NCSA: What motivates you before a big game? What’s your pre-game ritual?
Sanders: Wanting to win is motivating. A good pre-game speech by the coach also motivates me. I get my mind right before the game by envisioning myself being successful in the game.
NCSA: What are you looking forward to if and when you get the opportunity to play in college?
Sanders: I'm looking forward making new friends and still being part of a team after high school. I'd rather be part of something in college than just being a spectator.
NCSA: Why did you get involved in football?
Sanders: Because my dad played college and professional football and I just saw it as a logical step.
NCSA: Tell us about your interactions with college coaches so far.
Sanders: They have all been via mail and e-mail at this point. I have been offered one scholarship via mail.
NCSA: How is your off-season coming along? Do you see any challenges for next season?
Sanders: We have a new coach so everything is exciting at this point. We are just doing weight lifting in preparation for spring football. I intend to be a leader on the team and am preparing myself for a great football season!
NCSA: What are your goals - athletically, academically and in your community - for the rest of the school year?
Sanders: Athletically I want to get bigger, faster and stronger. I want to get in the best shape I can to help my team win! Academically I want to continue to get good grades and do well on my AP tests. In my community, I hope to help instill a renewed interest in Northview football now that we have a new coach and direction. .
NCSA: Tell us about what you've learned since being with NCSA.
Sanders: I haven't been with NCSA for very long, but I’m starting to learn a lot. I’m excited to learn more and I look forward to discussing how to interact with coaches in the recruiting process.
