NCSA caught up with football standout Luke Schindele about his high school career and the opportunity to compete at the college level.
NCSA: What motivates you before a big game? Do you have pre-game rituals?
Schindele: What motivates me before a game is all the hard work my teammates and I have put in during the previous week of practice. Rivalry games are also easy to get up for. My rituals are to get a good stretch in before anything, listen to my music and hold a ball in the locker room.
NCSA: What are you looking forward to if and when you get the opportunity to play college football?
Schindele: Just playing college football. It’s a lot faster more intense and I’m ready to see what I can do against the best in the nation.
NCSA: Why did you get involved in football?
Schindele: I love to compete, and soccer wasn’t cutting it for me anymore and my family thought I would like football. So I went out and tried it and fell in love with it.
NCSA: Tell us about your interactions with college coaches so far.
Schindele: I went and had an unofficial visit with UNLV. I got to sit in on a QB meeting and talk with the QB coach. I mostly receive letters and so far that is about it.
NCSA: How did your team do last year?
Schindele: We made it to the 1st round and had to play the defending state champs and we only lost by a touchdown. We have a tougher league now with a lot more competition.
NCSA: What are your goals - athletically, academically and in your community?
Schindele: I want to make it to state, I want to get over a 3.5 until I graduate, and I want to help out as much as I can with community service and possibly help and teach kids about the game that I love so much.
NCSA: Tell us about what you've learned since being with NCSA.
Schindele: I have learned about all the different rules and regulations that the NCAA has.
