PC finishes fourth among BIG East Schools

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The National Collegiate Scouting Association released its 2005 Collegiate Power Rankings in which Providence College placed 22nd among all Division I schools. Duke University finished first in the NCSA rankings while Stanford University, Princeton University, Harvard University and the University of Notre Dame rounded out the top-5, respectively.
The NCSA, established in 2000, launched its first power rankings in 2003 with the goal of providing prospective student athletes information on both the athletic and academic strength of colleges and universities. Rankings are calculated by averaging the US News & World Report ranking, the NACDA US Sports Academy Director's Cup rankings and the NCAA graduation rate for each school.
Providence ranked second in the US News & World Report standings, 91st in the NACDA rankings and 20th in the Division I student-athlete graduation rate for each school.
PC finished fourth among the 16 BIG EAST schools. Only Notre Dame, Georgetown and Villanova finished higher than Providence.
