The National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) is pleased to announce the release of its fourth annual Collegiate Power Rankings. The College of New Jersey finished tied for 14th on the overall list, which includes the top academic and athletic colleges and universities in the country at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels.
TCNJ finished ninth in the Division III rankings with a power rating of 24 as chosen by NCSA. In the overall ratings, TCNJ and Harvard University finished tied with a power rating of 24 as well. TCNJ finished the 2005-2006 academic year in second place in the race for the prestigious USSA Directors' Cup, marking the 11th straight year TCNJ has finished in the top ten in the race for the cup, a feat only TCNJ and Williams have achieved in the program's 11-year history.
Williams College (2.67) claimed the top spot with Amherst College (6.33), Middlebury College (10.67), Duke University (11.33) and Stanford University (13.0) round out the top five in the overall ratings.
The National Collegiate Scouting Association matches and introduces college coaches to qualified student-athletes through education, technology and relationships with the coaching community. NCSA's Collegiate Power Rankings were developed to encourage student-athletes to take a comprehensive approach to choosing a school based on its overall merits. Colleges and universities are given a ranking based on academics, athletics, and student-athlete graduation rates enabling student-athletes to obtain a true picture of the most complete and well-rounded schools.
NCSA's power rankings are calculated for every school at the NCAA Division I, II and III level by averaging the U.S. News & World Report ranking, the U.S. Sports Academy Director's Cup rank (NACDA) and the NCAA Student-Athlete Graduation Rate of each school. The U.S. Sports Academy Director's Cup ranking evaluates the strengths of NCAA athletic departments, while the U.S. News & World Report ranking recognizes institutions of academic excellence. The student-athlete graduation rates are based on those provided by the NCAA.
The NCSA was founded in April of 2000, by Chris Krause, a former full scholarship football player at Vanderbilt University. To view a complete listing of the NCSA Collegiate Power Rankings: http://www.ncsapowerrankings.org.
