Amanda Kelley
West Ranch High School
Castaic, CA
Amanda Kelley is currently a senior at West Ranch High School in Southern California. Kelley had been researching and contacting college coaches, but had no real leads after the holidays. Like many athletes, she became frustrated when she didn’t hear back from a school and rather than being persistent with the coach, she would stop the contact after her first or second attempt.
She almost gave up on her dream of playing college soccer, when she made a decision to re-evaluate her options. She had realized that she was contacting schools that weren’t a good fit for her and she made the decision to be more open-minded and realistic with the schools she was contacting. Amanda decided that she would be okay attending a school outside of California and at different levels, not just Division I. Her determination, combined with the help of NCSA, put her in contact with close to 100 colleges and universities within a week and she had several visits scheduled as well.
Amanda was very close to ending her soccer career when she made this wise decision to re-think the colleges she had been trying to contact. She now believes that there is a school out there for her where she can continue to play soccer and that is exactly what she is looking for. Stay tuned for updates!
