NCSA caught up with rising soccer star Ann Robinson about her high school career and the opportunity to compete at the college level.
NCSA: What motivates you before a big game?
Robinson: Before a big game I try to do things that I would normally do, such as listening to music or just talking to my friends. It helps me relax a lot.
NCSA: What are you looking forward to if and when you get the opportunity to play in college?
Robinson: I'm looking to meet people who are as or more competitive than I am so I can better myself on the field.
NCSA: Why did you get involved in soccer?
Robinson: Soccer, at least in my town, is one of the first sports you play. I started off in a little recreation league and my interest in soccer just increased from there.
NCSA: Tell us about your interactions with college coaches so far.
Robinson: I really like the college letters I'm receiving. I'm learning so much about the players and teams from so many different colleges and to me, that kind of thing is really interesting.
NCSA: How are your team(s) doing so far?
Robinson: My high school team, I feel, is doing pretty well so far. Even though we have no seniors and all together have a pretty young team, I feel we will do well during the season.
NCSA: What are your goals – athletically, academically and in your community – for the rest of the school year?
Robinson: My athletic goal for the year is to stay fit all year round and hopefully run at least 3 times a week. Academically, I would really like to do well on my SATs because it's such a huge part of junior year. My goals for this summer were to be fit before preseason even started so it would be at least a little easier.
NCSA: Tell us about what you’ve learned since being with NCSA.
Robinson: I think how to talk with the coaches and colleges is probably the biggest thing I’ve learned so far through NCSA. I think good communication with a coach is key in building a good relationship. I think that's the biggest thing I am going to take away from NCSA.
