NCSA caught up with rising softball star Brittany Serrao about her high school career and the opportunity to compete at the next level.
NCSA: What motivates you before a big game?
Serrao: Things that motivate me before a game are listening to music and praying to help me relax and get my adrenaline pumping. Sometimes I like to meditate before a game to get focused on the game ahead.
NCSA: What are you looking forward to if and when you get the opportunity to play at the collegiate level?
Serrao: I am looking forward to meeting new people and taking my game to the next level when I get the opportunity to play at the collegiate level.
NCSA: Why did you get involved in softball?
Serrao: I get involved with the sports I played in because I enjoying exercise and the intensity of the sports.
NCSA: Tell us about your interactions with college coaches so far.
Serrao: I have been getting a good amount of letters from colleges. Some of the colleges I have heard of and some colleges I do not know about or know where they are located.
NCSA: How does your team look for this season?
Serrao: My club team is doing well and I am excited for my summer season with them. My high school team has been doing alright and there will be many challenges my team will face this year because our right fielder tore her ACL so filling that spot and the positions of the seniors we loss also. I think this year we will have a better season then we have and I hope everyone works hard so we can succeed.
NCSA: What are your goals athletically, academically and in your community for the rest of the school year?
Serrao: My goals athletically are to get stronger by lifting weights and by lifting weights I can increase my speed with pitching. Also I will do speed and agility training to increase help with my cardio. My goals academically and in my community are to keep my GPA a 3.9 and to do well in honors Spanish to be prepared to the AP course my senior year. In my community I hope to stay involved in clubs at school to help my community.
