WATERVILLE, Maine - Colby College placed 11th among Division III schools and 18th out of all divisions in the National Collegiate Scouting Association's 2005 Collegiate Power Rankings.

The rankings are calculated for each school at the NCAA Division I, II and III level by averaging the US News & World Report ranking, the US Sports Academy Director's Cup rank (NACDA) and the student-athlete graduation rate of each school. The Director's Cup ranking evaluates the strengths of NCAA athletic programs, while the US News & World Report ranking recognizes institutions of academic excellence.

Colby ranked 13th in Division III student-athlete graduation rates, 19th in the US News & World Report, and 34th in the final Division III NACDA ranking.

Colby had a 28.67 power ranking (lower score is best) in the Division III listing. Ten of the 11 New Enland Small College Athletic Conferences (NESCAC) schools wer ranked in the top 17, with Colby ranked ahead of Bates, Wesleyan, Tufts, Trinity, Connecticut College and Hamilton.

Colby's 28.67 ranking was good enough for 18th place out of 284 schools ranked in all the divisions listing.
