Jen Schwalb and Anne Marie May made Mid-Major All-American team
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Princeton University's Alicia Aemisegger and UC-Santa Barbara's Patrick Cary headline the 2007 CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major All-America Team announced today. The pair were named the Mid-Major Swimmers-of-the-Year for their performances at the 2007 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships. Thirty-six additional swimmers and divers were named to the team on the basis of their qualification to the national meet. Aemisegger, a freshman for the Tigers enjoyed a banner season highlighted by top-eight finishes in the 400 Individual Medley (2nd) and 500 Freestyle (3rd), efforts that earned her All-American honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
Cary, a senior for the Gauchos, also earned CSCAA All-American status for his 8th place finish in the 200 Butterfly. The Big West Champion was fifth in the same event last year and is a three-time Mid-Major All-American.

Mid-Major Definition: Institutions are designated as Mid-Major on the basis of their conference affiliation. Institutions eligible for the Mid-Major designation do not come from one of the eight major NCAA Division I-A football conferences or award fewer than seven women's or five men's scholarships. Mid-Major conferences include: America East Conference, Atlantic 10 Conference, Colonial Athletic Association, Eastern Intercollegiate Swim League, Horizon League, Ivy League, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Mid-American Conference, Mid-Continent Conference, Missouri Valley Conference, Northeast Conference, Pacific Coast Swim Conference, Patriot League, and Sun Belt Conference
Two-Timers, Three-Timers: Nine swimmers and divers were named to their second-consecutive team. Noelle Bassi, Chelsea Nagata, Jennifer Schwalb, Pat Cary, Krzystof Zoldak have been selected for the third time.
Sibling Rivalry: Princeton divers Kent and Michelle Demond are the first siblings to be named to the Mid-Major All-American team. Kent earned his spot in 2006 while his younger sibling was named to the 2007 team.
Top Conference: The Big West Conference led all leagues with eleven swimmers named to the team. The Ivy League and Eastern Intercollegiate Swim League had ten representatives named to the team.
Additional National Awards: Three members of the All-American team earned National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week honors. Lyndsay DePaul of UC-Irvine, Pat Cary of UC-Santa Barbara and Elle Weberg of Florida Atlantic all earned the individual honors during the 2006-07 season.
