The Syracuse-bound McCarter closed out a stellar senior season with Class 3A state titles in the 3,200 and 800 meters, along with a second-place finish in the 1,600 over the weekend.
McCarter took the 3,200 in 11 minutes, 11.26 seconds and repeated as state champion in the 800 in 2:14.71. With a lead in the final half lap of the 1,600, she was overcome by North Carroll's Katie Hursey (4:57.44) to settle for second place with a time of 4:59.27.
McCarter began her senior year by winning the 3A state title in cross country to earn first-team All-Metro honors and then won the 800 and took second in the 1600 at the 3A-2A state indooor track meet to again earn first-team All-Metro status.
