NCSA’s January Track Impact Athlete of the Month is Corrie Castro, a junior sprinter from Saline High School in Saline, MI. At 5’6’’ 125 lbs, Castro is a bullet.
As a freshman, Castro set her high school record in the 100M (12.5) and led both the 4x100M and 4x200M teams to state finishes. During her Sophomore year, Castro continued to dominate the track and set new high school records in the 100M, 200M, 4x100M, 4x200M and 4x400M. She placed 6th in state in the 200M and was one of very few sophomores to receive All-Area honors. She was named all-state in the 200M and all three relay events.
Nationally, Corrie Castro competes with Maximum Output Track Club. She is the AAU state champion in the 200M and earned a second place finish at regionals in the 200M and 100M. Castro qualified for nationals in the 100M, 200M, 4x1, and 4x2.
Castro already has interested to compete at the next level from many college coaches and we are excited to see where her speed and strength takes her.
