Spencer McCorkel is a recent outstanding graduate from Bryant High School in Bryant, Arkansas. McCorkel is listed as the best pole vaulter in the nation. He has a personal best of 17'9". Not only does he hold the record for the top three outdoor vaults this year, he also holds the record for the fourth highest vault of all time. McCorkel is one in a million!
McCorkel has set locoal, state, and national records in pole vaulting. As a junior, he was ranked second among U.S. prep pole vaulters. Also as a junior, he set a national-junior class record of 17'3.5". McCorkel is also the highest vaulter in Arkansas high school track and field history and he holds each and every record in the Arkansas 5A Central Conference. As a sophomore, McCorkel was a 2005 Arkansas Hall of Fame All-Arkansas Track and Field Team award winner.
McCorkel will be attending the University of Arkansas in the fall of 2007. He was identified as "America's Next Prep Star" in Track and Field News. At At just 5' 7" and 135 pounds, he might be one of the smallest pole vaulters, but that has not stopped him from achieving big things!
