NCSA caught up with rising volleyball star Katherine Gosewisch to talk about her high school career and the opportunity to compete at the next level.
NCSA: What motivates you before a big game?
Gosewisch: What motivates me before a big game is listening to pump up music. Rituals that I do are dance before each game to the same songs.
NCSA: What are you looking forward to if and when you get the opportunity to play collegiate volleyball?
Gosewisch: When I get the opportunity to play in college I am looking forward to meeting new people, improving my skills and playing against the best teams. Also, being that I want to have a career in athletics I will have the opportunity to learn at the college level.
NCSA: Why did you get involved in volleyball?
Gosewisch: I started playing in fifth grade and could not get enough! I wanted to be able to play at THE HIGHEST LEVEL. I just love the competition and the excitement of the game.
NCSA: Tell us about your interactions with college coaches so far.
Gosewisch: I am working on getting in touch with more college coaches. I have received letters from Indiana University, Loyola, Ball State and Wisconsin.
NCSA: How are your team(s) doing so far?
Gosewisch: Our high school team almost made it to state. We are ready and pumped for next year and we will make it. Also, my club team has a lot of new girls this season. We are doing quite well and ready and pumped to improve for our club season and get to Nationals.
NCSA: What are your goals – athletically, academically and in your community – for the rest of the school year?
Gosewisch: The summer will be spent with more lessons and camps in order for me to improve for senior year and make it to the college level.
