NCSA was represented over the weekend at the ASICS Jr National Volleyball Championships at McCormick Place in Chicago. Staff members Andrea Emmons, Sara Rode, Brianna Adomovsky, Joey Weitzman, Casey Burdsall, and Lisa Meyers were in attendance at the NCSA booth meeting with parents and student-athletes interested in maximizing their recruiting potential.
About a dozen NCSA athletes competed at the ASICS tournament; including Melissa Ceisel (Rolling Thunder), Michelle Lindblom (Ultimate), Stephanie Pellegrom, (Inside Out) Cori Cooper (Sky High), Danielle Bielawski (Sunsetters), April Veronda (Players Choice). Two seniors were also in attendance, both of which are committed to colleges next year; Colleen Fitzpatrick (Augustana, IL) and Amanda Byrd (Concordia College, NY).
Inside Out 17 National Black ended the tournament 11th place in the Open Division. Ultimate 17 Blue ended 2nd in the Silver Division of Club Championships. Sunsetters 17 White earned a 9th place finish in the same division. Many of the NCSA athletes in attendance were standout performers during tournament play.
NCSA also caught up with coaches to talk about their upcoming recruiting needs, which players they were looking at over the weekend, and to get a perspective for what coaches are looking for in a college recruit. We encountered coaches at every level from D1 to NAIA. Over the two days attendance we talked to coaches from Georgia Tech, Illinois, Army, Wright State, Northwood University, Upper Iowa, Northern Michigan, Oakland University, University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Western Michigan, South Dakota, Dominican, North Park University, IPFW, Valporaiso, Pittsburgh, Marquette, Grand Valley State, and Louisiana State. Last, but not least we ran into Coach John Higgins of Purdue University-North Central, which is starting a new program, and needed many recruits to fill his roster!
NCSA looks forward to returning to ASICS Jr Nationals next year with a new class of recruits.
