Alix Klineman, a member of the U.S. Women's Junior National Team, has been an outside hitter for the team that won the gold medal at the 2006 NORCECA Continental Women's Junior Championship. She is the 2006-2007 Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year!
Klineman led Mira Costa to a 37-1 record. The school achieve it's nation's number-one ranking and the third straight California Interscholastic Federation state championship. Klineman herself, had 513 kills and set school records for aces and hitting efficiency, 52 and .494, respectively. During the state championship game, she registered 28 kills and had only 2 errors. She then achieved the state tournament most valuable player, for the second time.
As a result of the Gatorade recognition, she is now a finalist for the Gatorade Female High School Athlete of the Year, which will be announced in July during the ESPY Awards. She is also an all-tournament selection at the Nike Challenge and most valuable player of the Durango Fall Classic. She is a four year varsity starter, with a team that went 134-10 during those four years. She was also PrepVolleyball.com's 2006 Player of the Year. She has a very, very slim number of shortcomings, if any! She will attend Stanford in the fall.
