LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University Athletic Department has been ranked 43rd nationally among NCAA Division II schools in the National Collegiate Scouting Association's (NCSA) 2005 Collegiate Power Rankings. The rankings list the top academic and athletic colleges and universities in the country.
The Bald Eagles received a 219.00 power ranking and were among six other Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schools in the top 50 of the list. The others include Shippensburg University (6th), West Chester University (11th), Bloomsburg University (15th), Edinboro University (37th), IUP (48th) and Clarion University (50th).
NCSA's Collegiate Power Rankings, which were developed in 2002, are calculated for each school at the NCAA Division I, II and III level by averaging the university's US News & World Report ranking, the US Sports Academy Directors' Cup finish and the NCAA student-athlete graduation rate of each school. The US Sports Academy Directors' Cup ranking evaluates the strength of NCAA athletic departments, while the US News & World Report ranking recognizes institutions of academic excellence. The student-athlete graduation rates are based on those provided by the NCAA.
