NCSA caught up with rising basketball star Michael Glenn about his school career and the opportunity to compete at the next level.
NCSA: How do you show a college coach that you are really interested in their program?
Glenn: I send many letters of interest, tell them how I'm doing as a athlete and a scholar.
NCSA: What are you doing to “take charge” of your recruiting process?
Glenn: I'm sending progress reports of how I'm doing athletically, sending videos, and talking to coaches.
NCSA: Have you had coaches evaluate you in person yet? Tell us about how that feels.
Glenn: Not yet.
NCSA: How do you handle nerves when communicating with college coaches?
Glenn: I plan what I say before I communicate with coaches and that makes it easier to speak with them.
NCSA: How do you deal with disappointment in the recruiting process? Can you give an example?
Glenn: I move on and keep pushing until I get what I want.
NCSA: What makes you a unique athlete that stands out from a crowd?
Glenn: Other than being a great athlete, I have a better personality than most athletes have, and a strong commitment on the court and in the classroom.
NCSA: What are your goals for this AAU/high school season? How is the season going?
Glenn: My goal in AAU is to win more championships and to get a great deal of exposure. So far in the AAU season we are 10-8 with two championships. We just came from Ohio to play in the King James Shooting Stars Classic last weekend. Even though we lost three games there it was a great experience to go there and play with the best competition in the nation. I believe I matched up well against the best players in the country and this weekend gave me a lot of confidence. For the upcoming high school season, my goal is to redeem Fairport and win Section V title, and a State title.
NCSA: Who is your favorite college athlete?
Glenn: OJ Mayo
NCSA: Overall, how has the recruiting process been for you so far? Has NCSA made a big impact for you?
Glenn: The recruiting process as been a great help for me. I've gotten a clear picture of what I need to do in order to reach my goals, and so far I like my chances.
