Men's Rowing Camps
Finding the right junior rowing camps where you can better your techniques and get a new perspective on the way you row – whether it’s in the water or based on your erg – will always help in your recruiting. This list will help you look at men’s rowing camps so you can decide which one will be best for you.
What to Expect at Summer Rowing Camps
Summer rowing camps hosted by colleges will help you train just like student-athletes at that school. Daily sessions will help you with physical training that includes technique, conditioning and strength conditioning. Most camps also include information on the mental side of training, including video analysis and racing tactics.
Do know that physical training will often focus on steady state or aerobic capacity – not sprints -- and that you won’t be able to completely change your rowing in a couple of days, even with the best collegiate instruction. So don’t go into a camp experience imagining that your erg score will radically alter.
While athletes in some sports go to camps to get identified by college coaches, rowers at college rowing camps should anticipate that they’ll be benefiting from improved technique, new workouts and deepening their knowledge of the sport. We don’t say that to scare you; rather, make sure you’ve properly set your expectations and researched which junior rowing camps are right for you.
