Depending on what part of the country you are in, you either just finished your indoor season or you are beginning the outdoor season of distance for track. I wish you all continued success for the rest of the season.
If you are a junior and have not taken your ACT and/or SAT, you still have a chance to register for one of these exams before your senior year. Taking a standardized test before senior year gives you a HUGE advantage. Taking either test will give you an idea of what the test is like. Then, when you re-take the test as a senior you will be familiar with the type of questions asked. This strategy usually results in higher test scores during the second attempt. Remember, there is no penalty for taking the test multiple times and you are able to combine the highest scores from various test dates.
An ACT and/or SAT score on your scouting report will also help you through the recruiting process. College coaches need to know your scores or at least know that you are scheduled to take a test. Your test scores may dictate whether or not you are qualified for a particular college or university. Make sure you have taken your ACT and/or SAT at least by the end of your junior year so you do not fall behind other prospects.
Recruiting is a once in a lifetime event; make sure you start doing the right things today to maximize all your opportunities!
