Matthew Holsman - Fairleigh Dickenson University
After joining NCSA I received many letters from various Division I, II and III schools both inside and outside of Florida. The Division I schools were outside Florida and although most of them were good colleges, FDU fit into my plans better then the other ones.
I made the time to answer all the letters I received and felt encouraged by the amount of interest I got from recruiting coaches. The important part of this process is to follow up on the letters you receive and attend the baseball camps of the colleges you are interested in. This allows you to figure out if the baseball program and university fit into your concept of college and wether or not you feel comfortable with the coaches.
Being a college athlete is a great experience. This is my first year playing baseball for Division 1 Fairleigh Dickinson University and I have made some good friends already. However, it is a lot of work and commitment. I am also working out sometimes in 20 or 30 degrees and I come from Florida!!! It’s freezing and a big adjustment for me!! FDU is a great academic college and I have to remember to balance academics and athletics.
