Demi Quintana - Brooklyn College
The most challenging part of the recruiting process was being consistent on and off the court. When recruiting coaches come to watch you play, you have to make sure that you are focused on the prize, but also remember to have fun. I was super nervous every time a recruiter came to watch me play. Always keep in mind that the recruiting process is very competitive and that the coaches are not just watching you; they are watching all the players on the court. In other words, have fun while working hard!
NCSA has impacted my recruiting process by broadening my school search and helping me by contacting coaches. They would send my profile to coaches around the United States giving me a greater chance in finding the school of my dreams.
The best advice I can give a fellow athlete is to take advantage of every positive opportunity. Work extremely hard in school and never give up. Remember that adrenaline rushes as well as “butterflies” are all natural when recruiters come watch you play. Be humble, and always remember; what you give is what you get... so make sure you give your all and you will ultimately be successful. Last but not least…have no regrets!
Knowing that you worked hard and believed in yourself is the ultimate feeling of success. I never gave up, and when faced with an obstacle, I only worked harder. I am successful in my own way and I believe every student-athlete can overcome hardships if they put their mind to it!
