Tyler Stachecki – SUNY - Binghamton
One week after another, I would switch my college choice for one reason or another. I'd be sure that I knew where I was going to go… then the following week I would have something else in mind. It almost felt like I was drawing cards off a never-ending deck. There are a ton of good schools out there, but which one is the best choice for you? Which one can offer you the perfect fit?
Enter NCSA, and life was a lot easier. I was able to stay on top of a heavy senior course load and keep working at my sport without losing my head over college choices. Instead of having to do all the searching and organizing myself, I was able to send out my profile to coaches, or respond to coaches that contacted me first. NCSA's correspondence log made it really easy. If I ever made correspondence with a coach out of my own will, or responded to a coach that contacted me, I would simply fill out a correspondence log that would be sent to my advisor at the end of the month.
Within a few months of using NCSA's tools, I was able to narrow down my search to three colleges. I visited each one and talked with the coaches in person, met the team, and got to make a good decision as to which college was best for me. I'm now one semester into Binghamton University, and everything is absolutely perfect. Classes are going well, grades are good, teammates are fun, and everyone is dedicated to training and performing their best.
I haven't found it particularly hard being an athlete and a scholar at the same time. It's not too much different than high school… you just have to have good time management skills. Stay on top of things, eat healthy, stretch out well, and most importantly, make sure you enjoy what you are doing and you'll have the time of your life.
