Daine Bealon - Murray State
Dear NCSA Athlete,
This has been one of the most fun and frustrating things that I have ever been a part of in my life. The recruiting process is a very unique event, one in its own. There are a lot perceptions that people have when they are entering their senior year of a sport that they have had success in. People often believe that if you are good enough that college coaches will find you. While this may be true in some cases it usually isn't in most.
If there was anything that I could have done to make this road way easier, it would have been to start searching for schools earlier in my football career. I was always under the impression that they would find me if I played well enough. The quicker that you start looking for a school the easier the road is. What NCSA did for me and my family was open our eyes to the way things really are. They told us vital information like starting early etc. that ended up helping me find a spot on Murray State's football team. The one thing that you can not do is rely on other people to do things or talk to people for you. I found that the best thing to do is make things as personal as possible.
By that I mean actually calling coaches, emailing coaches, and actually talking to them yourself. This gives them a better insight into who you really are as a person and not just another recruit. You MUST be proactive yourself. The more people that you have helping you the better. Parents and athlete should both be very active in the search. Use NCSA as a tool for the coaches to see and showcase you, then go from there. If you ever have any questions, just set up a call or ask them through an email. No question is ever dumb.
Our process with NCSA was incredibly helpful and professional. Without them we would not know half of what we do now. Their help has allowed not only for me to find a school, but also share our knowledge with other people. When it comes to finding a school to play at, what you know may be the deciding factor, and with NCSA you will never be left in the dark.
Good luck on your search future athlete !!!
