Carlo Gagliardo - Kenyon College
I put in a lot of work to be successful in both my sport and my recruiting process. For football, I would lift weights, study film, condition, and practice hard. All the work I put in during the week showed on Friday Nights. As for the work in my recruiting process, I always sent my profile to any coach who e-mailed me. I would update any information as fast as I could, and I stayed in contact with my recruiting coaches.
The most challenging part of the recruiting process was making my decision on where to attend. I had a lot of schools to choose from and it really made it difficult to tell a coach I had been talking with for a year that I had decided on somewhere else. There were three main schools I had to choose from and in the end I made the right choice.
The best part of the recruiting process was interacting with hundreds of college coaches. There is nothing better for a high school athlete than to be talking with coaches at the next level. It provides you with that extra motivation to work hard to get to the next level.
NCSA helped in every aspect of my recruiting process. Without NCSA, I would not be attending Kenyon College because I had never heard of it. NCSA got my name and film out to them and they brought me out on a visit and I fell in love with the school. NCSA sent my film to so many schools that, without their help, I am positive I would not have talked to 95% of the coaches I ended up hearing from.
My advice is simple. Talk to every single coach as if you’re interested. It doesn't matter if they are D1 or D3. Tell them you’re interested so that when it comes down to the day you commit, you will have so many options to choose from. It works out better that way.
