Jill Shoquist - Arizona State
I would say that the most challenging parts of the recruiting process are one getting yourself out there, and two deciding on a school that best fits your ability and desires. For me this was Arizona State. The whole recruiting process really isn't a walk in the park. Not only do you need to get your name out on the table you also need to be seen. Luckily for me by using NCSA I had a video feed posted online for coaches. So, not only could coaches see me play in tournaments, but if for instance they were an east coast school they could see me on the internet as well.
NCSA made the experience much easier. I would open up my emails and check my mail to see that all the work was done for me. Letters poured out of my box along with about 10 emails a week from coaches all over the nation.
Like I said one of the hardest parts of the recruiting process is picking a school, but at the same time its the best part of the recruiting process. Picking a school is like planning out the next 4 years of your life. The day I committed a whole lot of stress was released off my shoulders as well as my parents. While all my friends were stressing senior year on where to go to school I already knew and that was a great feeling.
If I had to give advice to prospect student-athletes it would be to choose a school you would still love even if you had to stop playing your sport. Also, I can't speak for everyone else, but in my case I wanted to go to a school where I was going to play as a freshman. It's not always best to strive for an D1 school just because it sounds nice go to a school that you love and that you see yourself actually being successful at. It makes the time go by much faster and easier.
