Ellen Rehfus - Southeast Missouri State University
I put a lot of my time and effort into the recruiting process. Everyday after school I spent time calling and emailing coaches. At first, I was a bit overwhelmed by all the work. I always made sure to respond to coaches within 48 hours. Looking back, all the work I put into the recruitment definitely paid off. If you stay on top of things, and put in the effort, you will be very happy with the end result.
I think that the part that was most challenging for me was responding to all of the coaches in a timely manner. It is easy to get overwhelmed. I was also a little bit nervous about talking on the phone to coaches that I had never met before, but I quickly found out that I got more comfortable with every call I made.
NCSA taught me a lot about how to be successful in the recruiting process. I knew what I wanted, but really had no idea how to get it. NCSA put me on the right track and gave me everything I needed to demonstrate my skills both in the classroom and on the soccer field. NCSA was always there to help answer the questions I had along the way so that I was able to get just what I wanted, the perfect school for me!
I would tell all other athletes using NCSA to just relax. You don't need to get too stressed out about making your decision. It is important to put in all the effort you can, and if you work hard, you will have no problem finding a school that suits your needs. It is important to remember to enjoy the process, have fun, and take in the moment.
My freshman year was great! We went undefeated throughout the season and in conference. We won our conference and then proceeded to win the conference tournament and head to the first round of the NCAA tournament. In the first round of the tournament we played Mizzou. It was a great game! We were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and through two periods of overtime. We ended up losing in penalty kicks, but there was no denying that we had a great season.
