Martha Coe – Macalester College
The most challenging part was letting coaches know that I wasn't interested. One school that showed interest in me had an amazing soccer program and coach, but wasn't a good fit for me. I had visited twice and even ate pancakes at the coach's house with the team, and then I had to tell him that I wasn't coming to his school. That was a bit of a drag.
The best part of the whole process was the traveling I got to do. Most of the schools that I was interested in were on the east coast so I was able to drive out there a couple of times with one of my parents. I visited Washington DC, parts of New York, Chesapeake Bay, and other cool places.
When going through the process, I would tell everyone to keep your options open! I thought my heart was set on the east coast. I applied to ten schools, eight of them were on the east coast, but I ended up in Minnesota. You never know where your perfect fit will be.
I was lucky to find the perfect fit for me in a school. I love everything about Macalester. Without NCSA I would never have looked at, let alone considered Macalester, and now I can't imagine myself anywhere else. I truly love what I am doing and where I am at and they found me through NCSA!
