Jessica Sharpe - Saint Mary's University
It took me a lot of hard work, time, and sweat to get where I am now. I used to drive about and hour and a half everyday just to go to practice and play for one of the best teams in the state. Along with practice times it took a lot of hard work outside of practice to master a good swing and proper fielding techniques. However, it was well worth the time and all the hard work has paid off.
NCSA gave me the opportunity to look at a lot of different schools that I would never have considered before. If it were not for NCSA I do not know if I would have even found Saint Mary's. The best part was when I visited Saint Mary's and I just knew it was the one.
I would advise future recruits to be patient and take time in picking the right school. When you find the right school for you, you just know. Also, it is important to be persistent in contacting coaches and showing them you are interested.
Being a college athlete is better than I could have imagined. It gives you a sense of importance and pride around campus. For me, being on a small campus, everyone knows who the athletes are and has a sense of respect for them.
