Brett Oliver – University of Cumberlands
NCSA was a huge help helping me find the right school. NCSA handled the very challenging task of getting my profile to schools that fit.
The best part of the recruiting process was receiving acceptance letters from schools. It made me really excited to know that there were schools out there willing to accept me. I am a Canadian and hearing that I could swim in the States was really rewarding.
The best advice I can give to a student athlete right now, is do a lot of research on the universities where you would like to go. Find out which ones fit you best, and by your senior narrow down your choices. Stay in contact with the schools and coaches, and go to the place where you feel most comfortable.
Being an athlete at college is a full time job. All your focus is on school and the sport you play. I personally really enjoy being able to just train, and focus on the sport I love. Balancing athletics with academics is not hard, but at the same time it’s not easy. You need to have good time management and use your free time to work on homework, assignments, and even try to get ahead in the class.
