Jack Greenhalgh - University of West Virginia
I put a lot of work into my recruiting process. Before NCSA I tried to get my name out there as much as possible but it was hard. I sent out emails to about 25 coaches on my own and did not receive much in return. NCSA helped me get my name out to schools that I may not have heard of otherwise. It let me see all of the places that I was overlooking.
My favorite memories from my recruiting process were recruiting trips and signing day. On my recruiting trips I got to go to some awesome places and meet a lot of great people. On signing day I signed my letter of intent in our gymnasium in front of the entire school. The reason I enjoyed this so much was because everyone got to see a glimpse of all the work I had put into becoming a collegiate swimmer.
One of the hardest parts of the recruiting process for me was realizing that I was not good enough to go to all the schools that I wanted to go to. This being said, I would advise people to not get your mind too set on a place because it may not work out. You have to go through the process with an open mind, ready to see the fun you can have at any school.
Being a college athlete is awesome. Even though swimming keeps me busy, I wouldn't trade being an athlete for anything knowing what awesome friends I have made through sports.
