I was successful because I started working even harder at both athletics and academics throughout the process. Also, keep yourself organized. Respond to coaches quickly, and save all of your correspondence. It can be useful to look back at what was said.
The most challenging part was definitely making my final decision. When it came time to choose a school, I went back and forth between several schools, and I really struggled to decide. I am very happy with my choice and looking back, the best advice I can give is to go with your gut instinct. Everyone is unsure; the best way to get through it is to go with your instincts.
The best part was receiving interest from different schools. It was cool to see that coaches were impressed with me. It showed me that my hard work was recognized.
NCSA was very helpful in providing contact info for the coaches I wanted to contact. Also, the profile that they compile is very useful in attracting attention from schools.
My advice is to respond to every coach that sends you something. You might not think you’re interested at first, but your preferences may change. Also, keep working on your sport and academics. Schools really like to see improvement because it shows that you have a lot of upside.
