November 23, 2004

BLOOMSBURG, P.A. - The Bloomsburg University athletic department was recently recognized by the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) for its outstanding academic and athletic prowess by being placed in the group's top 25 Power Ranking.

The Huskies were 11th in the NCAA Division II Power Rankings and were the highest ranked team from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in the poll. Truman State of Missouri was the top ranked school in Division II. Among all schools in Pennsylvania only Villanova and the University of Pennsylvania were ranked higher.

The NCSA Power Rank is based on the United States Sports Academy Director's Cup rank, the US News & World Report College Rank and the school's student-athlete graduation rank.

"The results of our study make up the core principles of NCSA's recruiting philosophy," said Christopher Krause, president of the NCSA. "They include academics, athletics and, ultimately, student-athletes finding the right college fit. Most importantly, NCSA's Power Rank demonstrates to student-athletes the importance of both academics and athletics when searching for a school."

Bloomsburg athletic director Mary Gardner was also please to see the Huskies listed in the top 25.

"I am very happy that Bloomsburg University is once again recognized for both its outstanding academic and athletic standards," said Gardner. "It shows that we continue to strive for excellence in both areas."
