Purdue University > Boilermakers rank 31st among 98 Division I programs

WEST LAFAYETTE. Ind. - Purdue stand in 31st place in a ranking that combines graduation rates, academic performance and the overall strength of athletics departments. 

Purdue ranks sixth among Big Ten Schools in the rankings. Northwestern lead the way among conference schools at sixth place out of 98 Division I schools.  

Duke leads the 2005 Division I national Collegiate Scouting Association collegiate Power Rankings. Stanford, Princeton, Harvard and Notre Dame make up the rest of the top five in the NCAA Division I. 

The rankings are an average of the US News & World Report ranking, the US Sports Academy Director's Cup ranking and the student-athlete graduation rate of each school. The US News & World Report ranking recognizes institutions of academic excellence, the US Sports Academy ranking evaluates the strength of NCAA athletics departments, while the student-athlete graduation rates are based on those provided by the NCAA. 

Big Ten rankings: Northwestern (6), Penn State (15), Michigan (19), Wisconsin (23), Illinois (26), Purdue (31), Iowa (35), Michigan (41), Ohio State (46), Indiana (49), Minnesota (59). 

The NCSA provide information for prospective student-athletes and parents to assess each college and university based on academics and athletics. This in turn allows the student-athlete to select the best institution that will satisfy him or her academically and athletically.
