Personal Statement
Softball is my favorite sport because the game is up lifting and exciting. For example, the dugout is a place to scream and be loud and crazy. The softball field is a place where everything else in the world doesn’t matter anymore. When I’m practicing or playing, the only thing that matters is what’s going on in front of me. One thing in particular I do is I sing to myself while I’m up to bat or ready on defense. This acts as a way for my mind not to be thinking of what my body is doing because when I think I confuse myself. The best part of playing softball is making a play no one else could. Making an impossible catch in the outfield makes me the player I am because no one else can do what I do. I go all out on everything because I have nothing to lose.
Not only do I play softball but in the fall/winter I play basketball for my high school team. I love playing basketball because it gives me something to do, and it teaches me things softball never could. I love the team I’m a part of because I’ve grown up knowing the girls, and our strong connection off the court gives us the ability to be even stronger in a game. The past year during the 2016-2017 season I helped the John Carroll Girls' Varsity Basketball team win the Area Championship for the first time in the school's history.
I hope to play softball at the college level some day.
