Personal Statement
Hello,
My name is Kayla Marie Fernandez. I started playing fast pitch Softball in A.S.A recreational league at 10 u. My first year I was hooked and I started at shortstop, but soon became our teams pitcher. I made the all stars team and then my first travel ball team at 10 u B. The following year I went and started playing A Ball in Las Vegas and I haven't looked back. I have no plans on giving up on playing and want to have a major role in being not only a team leader but also a team builder in the future. I put in as much work on and off the field as anyone I know. As I started later than most I've worked very hard to get ahead of a very steep learning curve. I truly believe that I can be a successful asset at any level that I am able to play at, as well as for any team I'm with. I am goal oriented and driven! Once I achieve the goal I set, I immediately set a higher one for myself. I am the ultimate competitor on the field as well as the classroom.
As far as my off field aspirations I am stuck between wanting to choose something in the medical field and something that would give me the opportunity to make softball my lives work, be it as a coach or trainer. Perhaps i will pursue sports Medicine so i have the best of both worlds. I know that none of my life experiences have as much meaning as when I am with my team working together to be our best, I love the training and friendships more than anything else I've ever done, and I hope to continue down this path for many years to come. I am an open book so if there are any questions that I have not covered here, please feel free to ask them. I know I am an underclassmen and have a long road ahead of me but I will be a success wherever I end up, as the last thing I will ever do is concede and give up. My determination and will to excel in everything I do is my greatest strength. I can and will overcome all obstacles I encounter.
Sincerely, Kayla M. Fernandez
