Natalie Arbizu '19 Recruiting Profile

I want to thank you for reading my personal statement.  While its a bit long, I hope this gives you some information about what some of my goals are for college, why I make a great teammate, and finally who are my greatest influences in my life.

My collegiate goals and aspirations are to obtain a good education at a strong university.  I want to be able to make a smart choice in a university that will allow me to play collegiate softball while maintaining good financial choices so I do not leave school with huge debt.  I would like to graduate with a degree that will allow me to pursue my interest in either Forensics, nursing, or Sports Medicine and I feel that playing on a college team will keep me motivated and focused on my goal as a student.

I feel I am a good candidate for any softball team because I work very hard, I respect my coaches and teammates, I realize I am one person of a group of individuals that have the same goals.  I have faced adversity, failure, and rejection in my sport but I will not allow that to detract me from my goal to play college softball.

I am different from other recruits in softball in that I understand my role in my sport - whether it be on the field, on the bench, or in practice I know whatever I am doing at any time with or without my team around is important and is a direct reflection of my team and myself.  I realize I am not a 4.0 student but I am currently taking two honors courses in school and work very hard at my grades.  I want coaches to understand that I take very seriously the role of student - athlete and that my grades are always a priority to me and will do whatever I have to do to maintain my GPA.  Many of my teachers have commented that I am a hard worker and that I always try to do my best, even if my best does not result in an A grade.

I am often asked on prospect questionnaires who are the most influential people in my life.  I have three - God is always present and there for me to guide me and to keep me steady in life.  My dad - He has served his country in the United States Marine Corps and is currently a police officer in Chandler Arizona.  He cares about his community but his family - my mom, my brother and I are the most important things in his life.  The third person is my mom.  My mom was diagnosed with liver cancer and had 60% of her liver removed and went through three surgeries in 2015.  To watch her fight, never give up, and continue through all of this to support my dad, my brother and I was amazing.  She pushed me in school, in softball and in life to be a better person in all aspects of my life.  As you can see my family means everything to me.
